Born in Montpelier, Brian was raised along with seven siblings in Fairfax Vermont. After graduating public schools in Fairfax, Brian went on to earn a mathematics degree from Loyola University in New Orleans.
Brian then started his service to the people of Vermont when he went to work for Senator Jim Jeffords, first in Washington DC, and then right here in Vermont. Brian served numerous roles for Senator Jeffords, including a senior advisor on energy, environmental, and economic development policy, and a liaison between Jeffords's office and the southern Vermont business community.
Following Senator Jeffords' retirement in 2006, Brian served as the vice president for Government and Public Affairs with Central Vermont Public Service Corporation, prior to its merger with Green Mountain Power. Most recently Brian has been involved in the development of small solar energy projects.
Brian and his wife Leslie, the vice president for Corporate Development at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, have lived in Manchester for 25 years. They have one son in college and one daughter in high school.
